Bringing together cross-sectoral partners for the purpose of better attracting immigrant talent and ensuring immigrants were much more visible and successful within recruitment and selection processes undertaken by employers in Waterloo Region. It was the purpose of WRIEN during its five year mandate. For details on WRIEN's purpose, mandate and structure, please click here to access its Terms of Reference.
Since June 30, 2011 WRIEN has completed its five years mandate and as of August 1, 2011 has been fully integrated into the Immigration Partnership. The Partnership has three important pillars:
Settle - assisting immigrants with their initial transition into the community
Work - helping immigrants secure skill appropriate, stable employment into the community
Belong - nurturing an ongoing sense of connection, belonging and contributions as members of their community
Existing partners and supporters can be reassured that WRIEN activity will not be disappearing, but evolving into an even stronger resource for immigrants and employers—one that can be relied on to direct them to meet their respective goals. WRIEN’s employer engagement activities will be part of the “work” pillar in the integrated Immigration partnership.
