Employer Tools and Support
Government and the community have generously provided the financial resources necessary to undertake programs and initiatives designed to assist and support employers with their workforce development needs.
A guide was developed for employers containing a list of services available to help them with their hiring needs. Internship and Mentorship Programs provide employers with a no risk opportunity to monitor qualified Internationally Trained Individuals during their actual placement in the workplace or during the mentorship process respectively.

Internship Program
See what one employer has to say about this program:
“Working through the Internationally Trained Individuals Internship Program with Conestoga College and WRIEN has been an absolute pleasure. They are able to source candidates appropriately and will go the extra mile to help make those important connections for hard to find skills. We have utilized the program for both permanent placements and short term contracts with success. We thank the Program Coordinator and the team for all the hard work and dedication recruiting takes!”

Mentorship Program
An inspiring quote from an employer (mentor) participant:
“My participation with the mentorship program originated from my desire to pay forward the services provided to me by my mentor who contributed his time and effort to help me ( a virtual stranger).
The experience has been both rewarding and challenging because the successes of my mentees were always tempered with the realization that some of the mentees will give up during the process for reasons beyond my control. However, those who succeeded shared a common trait which was perseverance and willingness to face and overcome challenging situations.
I believe strongly in the benefits provided by the mentorship program and I wish it could be expanded to encompass all the professional fields. This program provides an in-depth look that is not available to new canadians through more generalized settlement programs.
I can proudly say that I not only imparted knowledge to my mentees but also that I learned a lot from them as the mentoring relationship progressed. I thank them all for enriching my life with their experiences and their friendship.!”
